FILM REVIEW: The Raid

10 out of 10
This dude was an animal!
After seeing The Raid, I have decided I like my pain flavoured Indo. Some serious skill went into making this jaw dropping delight that refreshes a genre with excitement and passion. Quite simply, it is an amazing feet of cinema and stuntistry. If Ong Bak made you wince, this will crack your bones as the acrobatics involved are simply astounding. The filmmaking convinces you that every hit is felt and every bruise is beaten. The storytelling and performances hold their own, where they easily could have played a weak second fiddle. There were a few points where they might have copped out and teased around such opportunities, but very rarely strayed towards them. I mean the plot still plays second fiddle, but plays a damn respectable second fiddle, considering the lead (Kung Fu Indonesian Madness). A chop-chop cult hit.
